天才が書く「The Power of Logical Thinking」
マリリン・ボス・サバント（Marilyn vos Savant、1946年8月11日 – ）は、ギネス・ワールド・レコーズに「最も高いIQ（知能指数）」を有しているとして認定されたことで知られる。アメリカ合衆国のコラムニスト、作家、講師、劇作家。1990年、「マリリンに聞く」で読者が「モンティ・ホール問題」について質問した際、直感に反するマリリンの回答が大きな反響を呼び、高名な数学者ポール・エルデシュまでもが反論する事態となったが、コンピュータによる実験でマリリンの正しさが実証された。
彼女が高いIQを持つことは広く知られており、メンサやプロメテウスソサエティを含む、高IQを持つ人物のみを受け入れるいくつかのクラブにも入会している。IQテストとは元来そのようなものであるが、様々なテストを受けた結果の数値にはばらつきがあり、彼女の正確なIQについては依然として論争がある。今のところ 167+, 186, 218, 228, 230,249,271,304,339 という結果が出ており、ギネスブックではその中の304が採用された。(WIKI参照）
→特に、モンティホール問題は、カナダの高校数学でも確率の問題として、授業の中でＴＯＰＩＣとして挙げられる。
彼女の出版している「The Power of Logical Thinking」が面白かった。
→個人的には、確率の例題「面白い」ということよりも
特に彼女は職業がwriterということもあり、彼女の英語が文学的に美しく（さすが天才）
また、深い思考力を言語化（見える化）する能力が高いので、

My psychology class received the following question: Threatened by a enemy force, the general faces a dilemma. His intelligence officers say his soldiers will be caught in an ambush in which all six hundred of them will die unless he leads them to safety by one of two available routes.If he takes the first, four hundred will die. If he takes the secound, there’s a one-third chance that none will die, and a two-thirds chance that sis hundred will die. Which routeshould he take?
Dear Readers:
If only the survivals of two hundred soldiers is required to secure a particular location and win the war, the general should take the first route. But if three hundred are required, he must risk the second.
Details and memo
1st route -> 100 % : 400 will die which means 200 will survive for sure
2nd route -> 1/3 chance that none will die or, it also means that 2/3 chance, all dies.
